The 2024 New Year and Lunar New Year (Tet) festivals are approaching. With their efforts in implementing the local price stabilization program and ensuring an abundant supply of goods, province-based retail businesses are ready to serve consumers.
Closely monitoring market situation
In 2023, electricity and gasoline prices have fluctuated a lot, leading to an increase in the prices of many other input materials, which continued to causing challenges for product costs. Therefore, the prices of many goods and services remain high and put pressure on personal spending capacity. The effective implementation of the market stabilization program and the upcoming reserve of essential goods in 2024 are always the industry and trade sector’s top concern.
Essential goods and high-demand items during Tet are being hurriedly prepared by supermarkets to best meet consumers’ needs
To ensure the supply of goods, from the end of September until now, provincial Department of Industry and Trade (DoIT) has always actively monitored the situation of the market,setting up a plan on market price stabilization close to actual needs. Accordingly, provincial DoIT has directed and guided establishments producing goods for Tet to have plans to ensure abundant supply at consumption needs of people in the province; encouraged units, businesses to hold Tet fairs to serve people, receive and guide units to organize promotional programs...
As of now, units and businesses have prepared goods worth over VND 11.6 trillion (excluding gasoline, oil, and medicine) to serve the 2024 (Lunar New Year) festival. The figure before, during and after Tet is more than VND 2.25 trillion. According to Phan Thi Khanh Duyen, Deputy Director of provincial DoIT, 9 districts, towns and cities have so far set up good plans to exploit goods for Tet. Most units have an increase in the investment value of reserve goods. Depending on each product with high or low consumption, they have a corresponding level of investment in product sources.
In addition, provincial DoIT has connected with neighboring provinces and cities, proactively creating a reserve supply of goods to ensure the best service for consumers while urging key enterprises, supermarkets, production and business units to participate in the supply and distribution of essential food products. All are always ready to increase production in urgent situations, being ready to organize mobile sales programs in areas where face local shortage of goods, resolutely not letting the situations of the shortage of goods or imbalance between supply and demand in any situation take place.
Giving priority to Vietnamese products
In the busy shopping atmosphere of the last days of 2023, many essential and high-demand items are being hurriedly brought to distribution systems in the province by enterprises. As a unit operating strongly in the commercial sector, Co.opmart has soon deployed a business program for Christmas, 2024 New Year and Lunar New Year festivals in a synchronous manner to promote the development of domestic trade activities.
According to Nguyen Thi Hong Khanh, Director of Co.opmart Cho Dinh, in order to make good use of business opportunities, the supermarket is actively preparing and continuously transporting goods to Binh Duong warehouse to serve consumers. Accordingly, the supermarket's reserve goods come from units with contracts and reputable products in the market, namely Soc Trang rice, roasted cashew nuts, Da Lat wine, Vissan food... Especially, there are regionally specific products like North Tan Uyen and Bach Dang Grapefruit; Dong vermicelli, dried vermicelli, rice noodles, shitake mushrooms from Son La, Yen Bai, Ha Giang...In order to support businesses in promoting and consuming products, the Co.opmart supermarket system has combined many product lines of Vietnamese brands and Saigon Co.op's own brands to meet all consumer segments. Especially, there is also an area for businesses and production facilities to introduce and consume OCOP products.
Similarly, Do Thuy Van, Director of Winmart My Phuoc supermarket said that in order to ensure the needs of Binh Duong people, the unit's 2 supermarkets, including Winmart My Phuoc in Ben Cat town and Winmart Di An 1 in Di An city, have prepared supplies of goods, with the total reserve of goods estimated at over VND20 billion. This includes the amount of goods participating in the provincial market stabilization program with such essential items as rice, pork, chicken, eggs, seafood, cooking oil, vegetables, processed foods, confectionery, etc.
In addition, Winmart has also stockpiled additional product groups such as bamboo shoots, vermicelli, wood ear mushrooms, dried fruits, nuts, household appliances..."In addition to further having stable sales, the important thing is the service method. Winmart has enhanced mobile and online sales through e-commerce applications. The supermarket is committed to always providing adequate goods with the highest quality for people", said Mrs. Van.
