A delegation of leaders from Binh Duong province, led by Binh Duong province’s Party Committee Permanent Deputy Secretary and People’s Council Chairman Vu Minh Sang, paid a working visit to leaders of Champasac province of the Lao People's Democratic Republic on Nov.22. After informing about the local socio-economic performance, the two sides seriously reviewed bilateral cooperation on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos, and the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Friendship Treaty between Vietnam and Laos; review bilateral cooperation between Binh Duong and Champasac in 2012 and map out cooperative route between the two localities in 2013.
Positive results
Since the Friendship Treatment between Vietnam and Laos signed, the two sides have further strengthen the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation.
Based on the cooperative agreements signed, in 2012, Binh Duong and Champasac have further implemented activities on investment cooperation between the two localities. As of late October 2012, the Dau Tieng Viet-Laos Rubber Joint Stock Company (JSC) planted 5,236 hectares of rubber trees in Champasac province, contributing to generating jobs for more than 1,200 laborers. The company is providing more than 400 laborers with ways to tap rubber latex for the first rubber latex exploitation in April 2013.

The Dau Tieng Viet-Laos Rubber JSC has also actively got involved in social activities in Champasac province, including investing more than VND10.7bln in building schools, roads; installing electric poles and digging wells…
Under the education cooperation agreement, Binh Duong has so far received and granted full-funded scholarships to 25 Lao students who are attending training courses at Binh Duong University. It is expected that the first five Lao students enjoying the support program will graduate from Binh Duong University by the end of the year. In 2012, Binh Duong has also provided a short-term medical examination and treatment program for 10 high-ranking officials from Laos.
In 2012, Champasac has also granted 2 scholarships to Binh Duong’s cadres for learning Lao at Champasac University within 10 months. Champasac has so far provided cadres of Binh Duong and the Dau Tieng Viet-Laos Rubber JSC with 6 scholarships for learning Lao at Champasac University.
Further upholding potentials of the two localities
Champasac’s Party Committee Deputy Secretary, Deputy Governor Som Sa Nit But Ti Vong welcomed a delegation of leaders from Binh Duong, led by Mr.Sang while expressing the deep sentiment of Champasac’s Party, government and people to Mr.Sang and his delegation.
He also said that Binh Duong and Champasac over time boosted the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation under the MoU on cooperation between the two localities signed in 2006.
In the coming time, Binh Duong and Champasac will further boost measures for comprehensive cooperation, including strengthening cooperation among sectors, departments and levels; boosting trade promotion; providing timely exchange of information relating to investment climate and policies; sharing mutual experience in Party building…
