This result is a solid foundation for Binh Duong to upgrade its urban area, being determined to soon achieve the foundations of a first-class city.

Targets reaching, exceeding plan

Over the past years, the province paid more attention to urban management and development with adjustments in line with the local socio-economic development situation in each period. The province's urbanization rate in 2022 reached 84%, showing that the local development speed was very high, in which urban development played an important role through upgrading urban areas and establishing cities, townships and new urban areas in the area.

In addition, the province’s work on upgrading urban areas was implemented on schedule under the national and local urban development programs. To date, Binh Duong has had 1 first-class city (Thu Dau Mot city), 1 second-class city (Di An city), 3 third-class cities (Thuan An city, Tan Uyen city, Ben Cat town), 5 fifth-class cities (townships of Dau Tieng, Phuoc Vinh, Lai Uyen, Tan Thanh, Tan Binh).

The province constantly implemented urban rejuvenation, especially in the southern region. The work contributed to positively improving the local urban appearance, connecting with new urban areas, ensuring connection to the local social and technological infrastructure system in a synchronous way. Huynh Pham Tuan Anh, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Construction said that over the past time, Binh Duong's urban development in the right direction has played an important role, promoting and maintaining the pace of the local production development. The province's key programs and plans were implemented in a synchronous way and organized by all-level authorities and sectors seriously on schedule, achieving positive results.

To date, most of the province's targets on upgrading urban areas have achieved and exceeded the set plan. This result is a solid basis for Binh Duong to upgrade urban areas, strive and determine to soon achieve the foundations of a first-class city. The rejuvenation of old urban areas has also contributed to positively improving the local urban appearance.

Huynh Pham Tuan Anh, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Construction said that the above positive results have contributed to helping the province get a number of lessons. Binh Duong has focused on mobilizing and effectively upholding resources for industrialization and urbanization. The local process of industrialization and urbanization is not only about developing infrastructure, but also creates attraction for investors. Many domestic and foreign businesses have chosen to invest in Binh Duong because the locality has a synchronous, connected infrastructure system and is convenient in many aspects. Moreover, Binh Duong has early focused on integration, proactively approaching, taking advantage of and promoting the positive aspects of integration to develop through partnerships, exchanges and the absorption and learning of foreign enterprises’ experience in terms of management, capital, engineering, technology... Binh Duong has also focused on training and fostering quality human resources to meet the requirements of industrialization and urbanization through establishing universities, vocational schools..., linking learning with practice. The province’s industrialization and urbanization are towards people, focusing on their benefits by firmly and gradually effectively solving issues on social welfare. “The province has focused on dealing issues that affect the stable and sustainable development of urban areas such as income, housing, urban infrastructure, traffic with regional connection, urban dynamic traffic, water supply and drainage, collection and treatment of wastewater, solid waste...”, said Mr. Anh.
