Early September 10, Thu Dau Mot University (TDMU) held a grand opening ceremony for the 2024-2025 academic year. The ceremony was attended by Nguyen Van Loi, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly deputy delegation; Nguyen Hoang Thao, Permanent Vice Secretary of provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Van Loc, member of provincial Party Standing Committee and Chairman of provincial People's Council; Nguyen Loc Ha, member of provincial Party Standing Committee and Vice Chairman of provincial People's Committee, along with other members from provincial Party Standing Committee, leaders of provincial departments, localities and over 600 students representing more than 22,000 students from the entire university.

In the 2024-2025 academic year, TDMU welcomed 4,298 new students enrolled in 38 different majors. This academic year holds significant meaning for the university as it marks the implementation of the strategic development plan for the new phase toward 2030 with a vision for 2050. The university is focused on improving quality and efficiency to meet the demand for highly skilled human resources. It aims at becoming a hub for science, technology and innovation, contributing to the sustainable development of Binh Duong province, the Southeastern region and the whole country.
To meet the needs of this new development phase, TDMU has launched and implemented several key projects, including the Innovation and Development Project for the university through 2035, with a vision toward 2045; the University Autonomy Project; the Project to establish and expand healthcare-related training programs… Each plan outlines specific goals and strategies in association with comprehensive solutions. All of them are aimed at developing the university into a smart university, a happy school, and a highlight within the Binh Duong smart city and innovation region.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Ha urged the university to establish a clear development strategy that not only leverages its strengths while meeting the province's needs. He emphasized the importance of creating a transparent, modern management system for the university and gradually building an educational ecosystem of TDMU. He encouraged the school’s students to strive for academic excellence, acquire knowledge, develop skills and gain experience to ensure a solid career path, contributing to the development of the province and the nation.
At the ceremony, provincial leaders awarded 17 scholarships worth VND 4 million each, to poor-but-excellent students. On this occasion, TDMU also recognized new students who achieved high scores in the 2024 university entrance exams.
