In the first 9 months of 2023, the socio-economic situation of Thuan An city continues eyes positive growth as 16 out of 19 targets have been accomplished by over 50% of the plan and exceeded the yearly plan.

Targets exceeded the plan
In the first 9 months of 2023, Thuan An city People's Committee has focused on organizing and implementing the directions of the provincial People's Committee, resolutions of the city Party Committee and city People's Council on the task of socio-economic development. Accordingly, the city's socio-economic development continues to be on the positive side.
Among the 19 main socio-economic targets, 16 targets have, up to now, achieved over 50% of the plan and exceeded the yearly plan. Main indicators such as industrial development, trade and services all increased over the same period. Budget revenues and expenditures are guaranteed according to economical and effective estimates and expenditures, meeting the needs of budget-using units. In the first 9 months of 2023, the city has strengthened market management to deal with counterfeit, poor quality goods, and prevent speculation and taking advantage of the epidemic situation to hike the prices unreasonably so that the supply of goods is ensured to stabilize the market, avoiding scarcity of goods.
Specifically, the industrial production value in the area is estimated at VND 206,490 billion, increasing by 4.05% over the same period and reaching 75.87% of the city People's Council resolution. Electricity output in the area is estimated be consumed by 2.033 billion Kw/h (decreasing by 8.68% over the same period); electricity supply for people's production, business and daily activities has been ensured. Total retail sales of goods and service revenue are estimated at VND 81,020 billion (increasign by 19.3% over the same period), reaching 70.8% compared to the resolution of the city People's Council.
The city currently has about 32,843 households operating commercial and service businesses, 1 supermarket, 2 shopping centers, 22 planned markets, 61 convenience stores, 45 cooperative groups and 3 affiliated groups with 442 members. In the past 9 months, the city has issued 3,211 business registration certificates to households with a total capital of VND 549.8 billion. Total State budget revenue in the area is VND 5,532.1 billion, reaching 75.6% of the estimate assigned by the province and equivalent to 75.44% of the resolution of the city People's Council and to 177.47% over the same period.
Nguyen Thanh Tam, Chairman of Thuan An city People's Committee, said: "In the first 9 months of 2023, the city People's Committee has focused on directing and operating closely the key tasks of socio-economic development, promptly resolving difficulties and obstacles in State management in each field. Thereon, the city's socio-economic situation has achieved some positive results."
Efforts made to achieve goals
In the context that great difficulties and challenges in the world continue to greatly affect production, business operations, import and export activities, and investment attraction, the ability of businesses after a long period of the COVID-19 epidemic has declined.
To successfully implement the goals and tasks of socio-economic development in 2023, the People's Committee of Thuan An city has directed all levels and sectors to make greater efforts and determination in operating, proactive and coordinated activities to promote the achieved results, take advantage of all resources and opportunities, focus on supporting enterprises in production, business and socio-economic development. At the same time, the city strengthens inspection and control of the market, detects and promptly handles violations of the laws, conducts plans to reserve goods, and stabilize essential goods, especially on special occasions of year-end holidays and Tet.
Nguyen Thanh Tam said that in the remaining months of the year, the city will continue to effectively implement tasks and solutions for socio-economic development in 2023 with the greatest efforts to complete the set goals and plans with ocus on implementing key tasks and solutions on State budget estimates and completing economic targets, striving to achieve budget revenue to meet assigned targets, and spend budget economically and effectively. Along with that, the city is implementing the socio-economic development plan, budget revenue and expenditure estimates and capital construction investment in 2024.
“In order to motivate economic development, the city drastically accelerates construction progress, accepts construction quality and focuses on disbursement, payment, and settlement of the volume of projects, especially key projects to be implemented with decentralized capital sources according to criteria. At the same time, we speed up the work of determining land prices, compensation, and site clearance to resolutely cut unnecessary projects to focus capital on pressing and motivating projects," Nguyen Thanh Tam added.
