Heart-warming to people of tributes

Thousands of houses of policy beneficiaries, meritorious people are newly built and repaired every year is an impressive number that Binh Duong province has achieved thanks to the unity and solidarity of the CPV, authorities, and people. Living in new spacious houses, policy beneficiary families strive to stabilize their lives.

Construction fulfilled

Following the main road of An Dien commune in Ben Cat town, we visited the house of the heroic Vietnamese mother Dang Thi Ut, who is 83 years old this year in Kien An hamlet. This is a newly built house funded by the State budget, supported by the Kim Oanh charity fund. Mother Ut confided that she had a husband and a son who sacrificed their lives in the resistance war against the US Army to save the country. Life was in hardship as the family lives in a cramped house, hot in the summer and damp in the rainy season. Her dream was to have a solid house built on the family's land to live in for the rest of her life. Now that the dream has become a reality after so many years. She is very happy now.

Every one rejoices in the newly constructed house of Dang Thi Ut

Of no less happiness is the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Toi (born in 1956), a 1/4 injured veteran in Tan Phuoc Khanh ward, Tan Uyen town. With the amount of 80 million VND from the support, the family now has quite a house. Mr. Toi did not hide his joy, choked up to say: "Throughout my life, now I have a house like this. Although I am old with many illnesses, when having a new house, all difficulties, worries disappear, my family is very grateful for the support of the local authority."

Just like Mr. Toi's family, now the families of policy beneficiaries no longer worry before the stormy season. They have enjoyed the happiness of having a solid house, where every wall, every brick bears the strong imprint of solidarity and attachment of the Party's principles, the people's love. Mrs. Nguyen Ngoc Hang, Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, said that for families of difficult policy, creating conditions for them to settle down, employment is one of the keys to reduce poverty, helping them rise in life most effectively. Identifying the importance of that, the provincial leadership has directed localities to quickly review and compile statistics on the number of policy beneficiary families with particularly difficult circumstances in need of housing assistance.

"Contributing to the storm", from 1997 to now, there have been an additional 3,872 policy families who have received a charity house ensuring the hardness standards (hard foundation, hard roof, hard walls) with a budget of about 85 billion VND from the state budget and fundraising sources. Those numbers not only demonstrate the determination, emotions, and solidarity of the community but also affirm the silent contributions of the fatherland front officials, officials of all levels of the Trade Union and Social Affairs. In addition to their roles and responsibilities, they are also involuntary contractors, both reviewing the list and mobilizing everyone to contribute and mobilize workers.

Focal repairs

Up to now, no policy beneficiary households facing difficulties in housing have not been considered for construction. However, due to the long construction time of the houses of gratitude, over time, they have deteriorated, so every year the province directs inspection and repair, construction of new houses for policy beneficiary households using central and local budget; the rest is socialized.

According to the statistics of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, from 2015 to now, the department has received 385 applications for repairing houses of gratitude. After receiving them, the department has reviewed and considered supporting repairs, demolishing and rebuilding any houses that are too downgraded. In addition to using the budget, many localities actively mobilize businesses and units operating in the area to support house repairs for those who have contributed.

Accompany us in the newly renovated house, Mrs. Tran Thi Hoa (born in 1936) in neighborhood 4, Phu Loi ward, Thu Dau Mot city is the wife of a martyr, who has contributed to the revolution. In 1998, the local authorities mobilized Viet Huong Joint Stock Company to build a charity house for her. After many years, the house has deteriorated, with cracked walls and a leaking roof. She is weak as her daughter is often sick so they do not have the conditions to repair the house. Recently, she received 40 million VND from the People's Committee of Phu Loi Ward to repair the house. "Honestly, I dare not to think that I would be able to repair the house. I am very happy because I am cared for and supported by the Party and local authorities," Hoa confided.

Mrs. Nguyen Ngoc Hang added that the movement of "Repaying the Kindness" in general and the movement to build houses of gratitude in particular always have close coordination between sectors, organizations with agencies, businesses operating in the province. Therefore, the results of building and repairing houses for charity every year in the province always increase higher than the previous year. The factor that contributes to this success is the close attention of the provincial leaders, notably the decision to increase support for families with higher merits than the government's regulations; along with the responsibility of localities in mobilizing resources, selecting the right beneficiaries, and managing financial resources effectively.

In addition to efforts to help policy families repair and build new houses, localities in the province also support families by giving essential furniture, necessary items, supporting capital and livelihood means in a gesture, through which many deserving households have improved their living conditions.
