Local History Science Society contributes to disseminate historical knowledge to community

The local History Science Society just held its 2nd congress for the 2011-2015 term successfully. Looking back the past tenure, despite of its term, the society reached many significant results. At the 2nd congress, the society set out operational orientations focusing on disseminating historical knowledge to community.

 

Journals of Binh Duong History Science Society are highly valued by the central History Science Association.

Initial results

In the past term, the society gathered numerous members involving in history science field, successfully implemented dissemination of knowledge for researchers, teachers, contributing to educate youths about the national history. After its 1st congress, the society had 86 members. The society has so far lured 35 more ones, lifting total members up to 121. Aside from 3 sub-societies established in the first term, there are 4 more sub-societies set up at Thuan A, Di An towns, Tan Uyen and Ben Cat districts.

One of the crucial tasks for the society’s long-term operation lies in development of history science. The society composed and issued some works entitled Thu Dau Mot of yore via monography 1910 and photo album of ancient landscape in Binh Duong, Nguyen Sinh Huy – portrait of Confucian scholar, Luu Huong historical novel.

Despite difficulties, the society held and cooperated with other units to hold scientific seminars successfully. Of these, a scientific seminar on Tran Thuong Xuyen and his ancient tomb in Tan Uyen district’s Tan My commune lured 12 discussion entries, offering documents and collections of Tran Thuong Xuyen’s career and life. Meanwhile, a seminar on teaching history at local high schools lured 20 discussion entries and became a forum to help local teachers exchange and offer useful information.

As for scientific research, the society implemented a provincial-level research themed “Chinese community in Binh Duong, history and status quo”. Lastly, the topic reached excellent results. Besides, the society members composed history in Thuan An town, Vinh Loi war-base and 12 communes across province.

In the past term, the society in cooperation with local Informatics Society set up a website www.sugia.vn. The website gathers many historical documents inside and outside the country. The website has so far lured over 752,600 visitors. The website is considered as one of prestigious pages of Vietnamese history.

In addition, to meet historical information for readers, the society published 20 journals with the release of 10,000 books, offering for units free of charge. With the rich documents, the journals have really offered valued information sources for readers on all areas of life and career of local heroes and martyrs, formation and struggle achievement of armed forces, introduction on local temples and festivals, local craft villages, local Chinese community and so on.

Disseminating knowledge to community

The society will continue developing further in the coming time. The society will pay special attention to dissemination on historical knowledge to the community, especially young generation…

Additionally, scientific research will be boosted further. The society will hold seminars and symposia on historical science for members and relevant people, assess provincial historical science topics, keep and uphold the national history and culture, cooperate with other history science societies in the Southeastern region to push up scientific research and historical education…
