At the meeting, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Le Thanh Hai recalled the Nam Ky Uprising, which broke out in early November 23, 1940 in 18 hamlets in Hoc Mon district and then spread widely to many provinces. Several days afterwards, the uprising was crushed and many Party leaders were captured and killed, including Nguyen Van Cu, Vo Van Tan, Phan Dang Luu, Ha Huy Tap and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai.
