Enhance product value
Keeping pace with the trend of modern agricultural development, Phu Giao district has set the key task of developing and replicating high-tech agricultural models, in order to promote specialization and form concentrated agricultural production areas based on natural conditions and to improve the economic value of agricultural products. In An Binh commune, the melon growing garden of Kim Long High-tech Agricultural Cooperative (Cooperative) is one of the effective operating models. On average, the cooperative achieves a revenue of over 45 billion VND each year, contributing to stabilizing the lives of over 70 members.
Nguyen Hong Quyet, Director of Kim Long High-tech Agricultural Cooperative, said that initially the members working under the cooperative group’s method. By 2018, realizing that cooperative group was operating effectively, they encouraged more people to participate in the group to upgrade to a high-tech production cooperative. From 8 members, now the cooperative has over 70 members. “In addition, the cooperative also cooperates with a number of households in Binh Phuoc, An Giang, and Dong Nai provinces. These households are provided with inputs such as seeds, agricultural materials, techniques and are able to purchase products like cooperative members in Binh Duong," said Quyet.
Determining the application of high technology and organic, safe processes in agricultural production is an inevitable direction, in recent years Phu Giao district has made policies and measures to support farmers in implementing effectively farming models. Specifically, the district has supported 30 organizations and individuals engaged in agricultural production applying high technology to receive preferential loans with a total amount of 876 billion VND, disbursed 773 billion VND. The district's high-tech agricultural production value reached over 600 million VND/ha/year, meeting the set target.
In addition, Phu Giao district has focused on planning and building production development projects combined with restructuring agriculture, forming many production activities together with consuming key local products. The entire district has now 103 agricultural production households granted VietGAP certificates, 416 households and agricultural production establishments applying high technology with a total area of over 1,000 hectares (an increase of 237 establishments and households compared to the year 2020), including many models that bring high economic value.
Livestock farming in the district is mainly concentrated farms, most of which have high-tech agricultural applications, automatic feeding and drinking trough systems, waste treatment with biogas technology or bio-organic fertilizer. The initial achievement is to develop reputable product brands in the market, including strong brands such as U&I Agriculture Joint Stock Company (Unifarm), Vinamit Joint Stock Company…
Pham Quoc Liem, General Director of Unifarm, said: “For nearly 15 years of development, Unifarm has researched many crops and applied appropriate and advanced technology in the world to create valuable, productive and high-quality crops. Recently, Unifarm has focused on technology transfer to farmers. The goal is to support farmers in growing and creating valuable and high-quality crops. Through the Unifarm platform on supply chain and logistics, to bring products to domestic and foreign consumers, creating high economic efficiency on farmers' crop areas."
Build smart village
In Phu Giao today, it is easy to see that roads are asphalted and concreted, creating favorable conditions for traveling and transporting goods, contributing to socio-economic development and the face uplift of the countryside, the material and spiritual life of the people is improving.
Currently, Phu Giao district is building a Smart Village Project that is developed on the basis of a set of criteria for new rural communes, focuses on key contents such as smart institutions, smart resources, and smart infrastructure, smart services, smart manufacturing and business. It is expected that in the future, Phu Giao smart village will become a worth living, environmentally friendly place, and one of the green symbols of the province, creating a premise for sustainable rural development.
It can be said that the accomplishments in applying engineering, science and technology into agricultural production not only contribute to the development of high-tech agriculture locally but also create a foundation for Phu Giao district to implement the smart village, aiming to build new smart rural communes, ensuring the goal of sustainable rural development.
Doan Van Dong, Chairman of Phu Giao district People's Committee, said that to successfully build smart village, towards a new smart rural commune, in the coming time Phu Giao district will gradually transform its agricultural production model, from household production to develop into cooperatives and farms, focusing on converting to good quality, high-yield varieties in accordance with market requirements, and gradually bringing advanced science and technology into production to modernize agricultural production towards high technology.
Nguyen Hong Quan, Circular Economy Development Research Institute, Ho Chi Minh City National University: “To build an effective smart village, suitable for Phu Giao district, it is necessary to focus on five main pillars (technology, people, physical resources, services and administration). Phu Giao district and Binh Duong have great potential for increasing the agricultural production value chain from circular economy solutions associated with high-tech agriculture. Identifying the current status of circular agriculture and potential solutions will be the basis for building solution groups on human resource development, markets, technology, management and policies for application. Linking stakeholders in the agricultural production chain is also an important factor for transformation. |
