There have been many times when wages have increased, and prices of goods have increased accordingly. From this July, wages have been adjusted to increase significantly, causing people to worry that prices will also increase at a high level. However, based on a preliminary survey, up to the present time, the price situation in the market in the province has been relatively stable, with not many fluctuations.
Stable market
Contacting us, many housewives seem quite happy because up to now, the commodity market at traditional markets has been relatively stable, which has helped them feel somewhat reassured and excited after the salary increase. Ms. Nguyen Thi Huynh Thi, Phu Loi Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, said that before this salary increase, she was quite worried about prices. The salary increased by about 30%, the total income of her and her husband is nearly 25 million VND a month, the living conditions are not too difficult with the condition that prices do not increase along with the salary, or if they do, it is only about 5-7%. Therefore, the prices of essential goods that do not increase have reduced some of her worries in the past few days.
Supermarkets continue to implement strong promotional programs throughout July 2024, contributing to maintaining stable prices. In the photo: Consumers choose to buy groceries at Co.opmart Binh Duong supermarket.
Perhaps, the worries of Ms. Thi are also the common concerns of many consumers at the time when the standard of living is about to increase. However, at the current time, going around some traditional markets in the province such as Thu Dau Mot, Lai Thieu, Di An... most prices of essential items, such as vegetables, fruits, fresh food etc. saw little changes.
According to the sharing of small traders, stable prices of goods are due to abundant supply, fresh quality, and maintaining prices to retain customers. Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh, a small trader at Thu Dau Mot market, said: "A hundred sellers, ten thousand buyers, if the price increase is not reasonable, consumers will choose to buy from other stalls, and I will lose customers. Except for high-priced fruits and vegetables, the selling prices are mostly based on the general market, whether there is a salary increase or not."
Prices kept stable in supermarkets
At supermarkets, shopping centers, convenience stores, and grocery stores, the prices of goods basically remain unchanged. Retail chains such as WinMart, Co.opmart, Aeon Mall, Big C, or convenience stores still maintain the same prices for their products as before. In fact, these businesses are even implementing promotional campaigns and offering strong discounts at the moment.
Mr. Duong Bao Khuong, Deputy Director of Co.opmart Binh Duong supermarket, said: "After the contract for supplying goods to the supermarket expires, businesses and production facilities may adjust prices if there are fluctuations in input materials, labor... Currently, the prices of goods supplied to the supermarket remain unchanged, with abundant supply. This means that the prices of goods at the supermarket, when reaching consumers, will not change compared to before."
The prices of various vegetables, tubers, and fruits at traditional markets have hardly changed compared to before the salary increase. In the picture: Trading activities at Phu Hoa flower market, Phu Hoa ward, Thu Dau Mot city.
According to Mr. Khuong, the supermarket is currently implementing programs to stabilize the prices of essential items such as rice, sugar, milk, and livestock meat. In addition, the supermarket is also launching promotional programs to enhance customer access and attract customers through shopping at the best prices. Currently, Co.opmart is also launching many promotional programs from July 4th to July 17th. Co.opmart will also reduce prices by up to 25% for OCOP from cooperatives and businesses nationwide. The purpose of Co.opmart is to maintain stable prices and promote the consumption of goods, supporting the development of cooperatives and businesses.
