Province always pays attention to young workers’ lives

Provincial Steering Board of the 4th Week for Young Workers, on May 5, held a workshop on “Upholding the role of Binh Duong’s young workers in the period of intensified industrialization and modernization”. The workshop focused on reviewing the province’s activities taking care of the lives of young workers and proposing many measures to help them uphold their creation in production and have a strong attachment to the province, contributing to promoting the development of the province.

Paying attention to uniting and gathering young workers

Nguyen Khoa Hai, vice-secretary of provincial Youth Union said that the province has so far developed 28 industrial parks with 9,093 hectares in total and 8 industrial compounds with nearly 600 ha in total. The province has also absorbed 12,525 domestic investment projects capitalized at VND88.5trillion and 2,012 foreign direct investment (FDI) ones with total registered capital of US$13.872mln, generating jobs for around 700,000 laborers.

With such a large number of laborers, the province has actively made efforts in the task of uniting and gathering young workers. So far, there have been 529 sub-unions for young workers at the local lodging facilities, which is seen as a considerable result under the province’s Project of “Strengthening the task of uniting and gathering young workers at lodging facilities between 2007 and 2010”.

Mr.Hai also added that provincial Youth Unions and Youth Federations at all levels over time organized a lot of useful playgrounds for young workers, made solidarity between the local youths and immigrant ones, took good care of the material and spiritual lives of young workers via many significant activities, contributing to helping them uphold their role in the period of intensified industrialization and modernization.

According to Nguyen Thi Minh Ha, a staff from provincial Propaganda and Education Committee, the local authorities, mass organizations and employers have always paid attention to the material and spiritual lives of young workers. Regarding this, Huynh Van Nhi, head of provincial Steering Board of the 4th Week for Young Workers said: “Taking good care of young workers’ lives over the past time was very worthy of being acknowledged. The province’s attention to young workers has contributed to helping them uphold their role in the process of building a more prosperous Binh Duong.

Proposals on improving young workers’ lives

Nguyen Thi Minh Ha said that more appropriate and concrete measures are needed to raise the material and spiritual lives of young workers in the current period. But, one of the important things is to propose the Government to have research on improving salary policies, which are in line with the growth of economy.

Meanwhile, Vuong Thi Kim Ha, head of the Organization Board of provincial Women’s Union suggested that the province needs to have policies on vocational training for unskilled laborers, especially female ones at society’s current development requirements; pay attention to building cultural lodging facilities…

According to Mr.Hai, synchronous cooperation between the local sectors and levels in building cultural institutions, facilitating young workers to get access to the Party and State’s policies and conditions for health, education and entertainment are also needed to help them raise their own ability. This will also help employers be more active in cooperating with the local Youth Unions to take good care of the lives of young workers.

In terms of the upcoming proposals, Mr.Nhi has also required the local sectors and levels to further uphold the role of young workers; help them stabilize their lives for a strong attachment to the province; work harder on improving their qualifications and organize more useful playgrounds for them…
