The province’s socio-economic situation in the first nine months of 2024, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, has still achieved positive results. These results were attained because right from the beginning of the year, provincial People's Committee has forecast the situation early and took dratical actions, directing all-level authorities and sectors to focus on effectively implementing tasks. 15 key targets achieving and exceeding the plan
On the afternoon of September 18, Mai Hung Dung, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of provincial People's Committee chaired the 71st session of provincial People's Committee to approve a report on the local socio-economic situation and national defense-security in the first nine months of 2024 and key tasks for the rest of the year. The session was attended by Nguyen Loc Ha, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee and Vice Chairman of provincial People's Committee, along with other members of provincial People's Committee and representatives from provincial departments, sectors and cities.
Mai Hung Dung, Permanent Vice Chairman of provincial People's Committee emphasized that all-level authorities and sectors must focus on removing obstacles and accelerating the progress of key projects, striving to achieve the highest possible completion of the 2024 targets
The report from provincial People's Committee indicated that in the first nine months of 2024, the production and business activities of enterprises in the province saw positive development. Key export sectors gradually recovered and there were numerous returning export orders. Notably, the province's industrial production index was estimated at increasing by 6.31% compared to the same period in 2023. The whole province attracted $1.2 billion in foreign direct investment and VND 56.616 trillion in domestic registered capital. The province’s total retail sales revenue of goods and services increased by 12.7% compared to the same period in 2023. The province's export turnover reached $18.2 billion, an increase of 13.7% compared to the same period in 2023.
Regarding State budget revenue and expenditure, the entire province collected VND 50.12 trillion, reaching 77% of the estimate assigned by the Prime Minister while State budget expenditures amounted to VND 9.86 trillion, reaching 44% of the annual estimate. Meanwhile, the province’s total social investment capital was estimated at increasing by 7.6% compared to the same period in 2023, positively contributing to promoting significant growth in various sectors.
The local government has actively supported poor households with housing construction
Thanks to the efforts in leadership and management across fields by provincial People's Committee, in the first nine months of 2024, 15 out of 36 key targets have been achieved or exceeded the annual plan. Provincial People's Committee continues directing and implementing specific solutions in the remaining months of 2024 to strive to complete the highest possible number of the proposed targets.
Social welfare ensured
In the first nine months of 2024, provincial Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, along with related units, provided counseling and job placement for over 95,000 people. As a result, the entire province created approximately 25,000 new jobs, contributing to the stabilization of the labor situation, the lives of workers, the production and business activities of enterprises. To facilitate access to social housing, the province approved investment in two social housing projects with a total of 5,968 apartments and 4 commercial housing projects with allocated land for social housing. Additionally, VND 200 billion was transferred to the Bank for Social Policies to support loans for social housing buyers.

In the field of education and training, Binh Duong has led the nation for two consecutive years in the rate of students successfully enrolling in universities and colleges. The quality of education as well as the expertise of management staff and teachers at all levels, has been improved continuously. The percentage of students completing their programs and receiving high academic ratings increased compared to the previous school year, with the graduation rate reaching 99.8%, ranking 4th out of 63 provinces and cities. The preparations for the 2024-2025 school year were thoroughly organized, teaching and learning activities at schools have been stabilized.
Over the past nine months, provincial authorities and related sectors focused on addressing waterlogging issues on roads, residential areas, urban zones and agricultural production regions. Additionally, the province has mobilized various resources to support social policy beneficiaries and pay tribute to revolutionary contributors…
In the remaining months of 2024, provincial People's Committee will further focus on reviewing and resolving obstacles for enterprises and real estate projects, promoting trade promotion activities, expanding markets and finalizing the five-year land use plan while implementing a plan for the enforcement of the 2024 Land Law. Additionally, provincial People's Committee will develop and approve adjustments to general and regional planning for localities; strengthen measures to prevent loss of State budget revenue, and manage the 2024 local State budget; reduce regular expenses and increase investment spending. Provincial units and localities will further expedite the completion of procedures, site clearance, construction and groundbreaking of key projects; proactively implement measures to ensure public order and security, prevent fires and explosions, control and reduce traffic accidents and jams.
Concluding the session, Mr. Dung emphasized that from now until the end of 2024, departments, agencies, and sectors must focus on implementing solutions to address difficulties in production, business, and public investment disbursement; accelerate the progress of key projects to strive to achieve the highest possible results for the 2024 targets.
