Province takes good care of blind people’s lives

Provincial Association for the Blind today, Nov.5, opens the fifth conference for the 2010 and 2015 tenure. Over the past five years, the society made efforts in overcoming difficulties, improving leadership, gathering and offering help to its members... The lives of the society’s members, therefore, have step by step seen obvious improvement.

 

Over the past five years, provincial Association for the Blind admitted additional 137 new members, getting 100% of the projection. The association also took good care of the lives of its members; send its officials to training courses on management skills, the State’s policies…. organized by the Vietnam Association for the Blind, according to Huynh Thi Khuyen, deputy head of the association.

 

 

Blind people need help from officials and members with good eyesight

 

Noticeably, provincial Association for the Blind was very active in unitizing and gathering members, giving vocational training and jobs to them; well realized the State’s preferential policies for members. The association effectively implemented its program on employment and hunger eradication-poverty reduction between 2007 and 2012; provided a rotating loan of over VND4.4bln for 995 members and broom-making establishments.

 

The association also teamed up with provincial Fatherland Front Committees at all levels to build 46 unity houses worth over VND703mln for members. Officials and members of the association built and upgraded 10 houses with a total cost of over VND41mln; gave 62 saving books worth over VND14mln for the poor. Under the State and Party’s attention, all the blind in the province over time enjoyed monthly allowance of VND340,000 per capita; were granted health insurance cards…

 

Over the past five years, provincial Association for the Blind mobilized the whole society to present 29,361 gifts worth more than VND3.6bln and 54,925 kg of rice and foodstuff valued at more than VND534mln to the blind. Many local donors also offered more help worth hundreds of million of dong to the blind. Apartedly, provincial Association for the Blind donated 50 gifts worth over VND12mln to wounded and sick soldiers and those who made contributions to the national revolution…

 

Mrs.Huynh Thi Khuyen said that provincial Association for the Blind and its affiliates over time received more attention from the local authorities. For achievements done, provincial Association for the Blind was awarded the certificates of merit from the Vietnam Association for the Blind; 20 collectives and 58 individuals were also awarded from the Vietnam Association for the Blind. There were also 153 individuals receiving the memento of “For happiness of the blind”. Besides, provincial People’s Committee presenting hundreds of the certificates of merit to outstanding officials and members of the association…
