According to the State Bank of Vietnam, as of July 22, about 26.3 million customers made biometric authentication with chip-embedded citizen identification cards. Of these, 22.5 million customers made the authentication via mobile application and 3.8 million customers did at bank transaction counters. Up to now, 37 credit institutions have implemented authentication via mobile applications and 47 credit institutions have implemented authentication at the counter. 25 credit institutions have sent data to C06—Ministry of Public Security, and 22 are deploying this on the VNeID platform.
In Binh Duong, up to now, there have been 35 credit institution branches performing biometric authentication for customers; 9 credit institutions branches are doing the authentication. Accordingly, there are 664,327 verified customers in the province, and approximately 2,221,128 customers have been or will soon be verified.
According to the State Bank, recently, in the process of biometric authentication, there have been some forms of fraud, such as impersonating bank employees and phoning customers to support biometric authentication. The offenders lured customers, then took control of the customers' phones and transferred money. Faced with this situation, people are advised to only perform biometric authentication through the bank's official application and website or at the counter; Absolutely do not make biometric authentication through strange or unofficial links; At the same time, do not provide any private information to others for biometric authentication.
Banks now have basic, specific instructions to advise customers not to use strange applications or click on strange links. Accessibility permissions or phone unlocking must not be granted. Do not provide account information, passwords, or OTP to anyone, including bank staff.
