To promote kindness in life

There are individuals who, despite having physical disabilities, actively participate in volunteer activities with an optimistic spirit, aiming to ignite the flame of compassion in everyone's hearts and bring forth beauty to life. One of these individuals is Mr. Duong Quang Toan, who is mentioned in this week's program "I Love Binh Duong."

Mr. Duong Quang Toan (on the left in the back) and officials of Phu Cuong ward Red Cross and volunteers are in a talk about mobilization of blood donation

Mr. Duong Quang Toan currently resides in Ward 7, Phu Cuong district, Thu Dau Mot city. When he was young, he suffered from an illness and the resulting spinal deformity, causing him to have a hunched back and difficulty walking straight. He has gradually overcome his insecurities due to his illness, excelled in his studies, obtained stable employment, and become an active participant in charitable activities.

The first volunteer activity that Mr. Toan participated in and has been actively involved in until now is the voluntary blood donation movement. Initially, he joined the blood donation campaign because of the noble meaning behind it. Later on, in order to encourage more people to participate, he directly engaged in advocacy efforts and established a Facebook group called "Voluntary Blood Donation - Loving Blood Drops in Binh Duong" to spread this movement to a wider audience. Currently, this group has attracted over 6,600 members to participate. From November 2022 to December 2023, he has campaigned and registered 1,583 voluntary blood donors, of which 1,226 donations were successful in localities such as Thu Dau Mot city, Thuan An, Di An, Tan Uyen, Ben Cat Town, and Bau Bang district.

After a period of voluntary blood donation, Mr. Toan also researched and participated in platelet donation. Despite facing numerous obstacles such as long distances (donating in Ho Chi Minh city) and spending more time, he is still very happy to think about the lives saved thanks to the platelets he donated.

We admire this individual's small yet great spirit, as they have registered to donate tissues, organs, and their body for medical purposes. Initially, they believed that when people die, they simply return to dust and that death is the end. However, one day they learned about tissue and organ donation activities, and that perspective changed. He has registered to participate in this activity so that even after death, he can still do meaningful things in life, most importantly, to multiply life for the patients waiting for a miraculous revival from the organ and tissue donations provided by the donors.

I often ask you, a humble person who is not well-versed, how you always have such grand and humanitarian thoughts. Your simple response encapsulates it all: "Giving lasts forever." Indeed, not everyone thinks and acts like you. Your acts of kindness are always gestures, a shining example for others to follow, to live a better life despite facing numerous difficulties and challenges.

To understand more about the meaningful charitable activities that Mr. Duong Quang Toan has participated in, and to learn more about a person who is "disabled but not useless" as he has shared, we invite esteemed readers to watch the next episode of the program "I Love Binh Duong". The program is produced by Binh Duong Newspaper and will be broadcasted at 6:00 PM on December 24, 2023, at www.baobinhduong.vn.
