Types of urban agricultural production diversified

On the afternoon of December 29, provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MoARD) organized a conference to sum up a project on urban agriculture in the southern region of Binh Duong province for the period 2016-2020 and review its activities in 2023. The event was attended by Mai Hung Dung, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee and Permanent Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee.

In recent years, many typical models of urban agriculture have been developing, achieving high economic, social and environmental efficiency. By the end of 2023, the total area of ​​urban agriculture models in the province was more than 964 hectares. The One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program has achieved many positive results. To date, 126 OCOP products have been recognized. Among them, there have been 10 products meeting 4-star standards.

Mr.Dung acknowledged the efforts by the Agriculture and Rural Development sector while suggesting the sector to further review the Urban Agriculture Project in the southern region of Binh Duong province to make adjustments on incentive policies to better suit the current market mechanism; train and foster knowledge and skills to develop high-tech agriculture for farmers; promote e-commerce applications to expand consumption markets for a number of products with the local potential and advantages while effectively implementing central and local programs, policies and projects...

On this occasion, provincial People's Committee awarded a decision to recognize talented artisans and workers at provincial level. Provincial MoARD also awarded the certificates of merit to 5 collectives and 8 individuals who made many contributions to the development of the local Agriculture and Rural Development sector in 2023; awarded the certificates of merit to 2 groups and 7 individuals for their positive achievements in realizing the project of "Forming up a production and supply area for ornamental creatures in the southern region of Binh Duong province in the period of 2018-2022".
