Vietnamese President to visit Kazakhstan

Vietnam’s President Truong Tan Sang will pay a state visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan from September 10 to 11.

The visit is made at the invitation of Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev, according to Vietnamese Foreign Ministry on September 4.

Deputy PM wraps up Bulgaria visit

Vietnam wants to strengthen the friendship and comprehensive cooperation with traditional friends in Central and Eastern Europe, including Bulgaria, affirmed Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan while paying a courtesy call to Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev in Sofia on Sept. 4.

The Deputy PM handed over a letter from President Truong Tan Sang to Plevneliev, which shows Vietnam ’s interest in the proposal of President Rosen Plevneliev and the Bulgarian Government on a new bilateral cooperation model, in which Vietnam will export semi-processed goods to Bulgaria for direct processing in ports of Bulgaria and then for export to the European market.

Nhan said he and his Bulgarian counterpart has assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and the Bulgaria’s Ministry of Economic, Energy and Tourism to consider the feasibility of the proposal and build a proper legal framework and specific measures to implement.

He thanked the Bulgarian Government for favourable conditions created for the Vietnamese community living and studying in the country over the past years and expressed his hope that the Bulgarian Government will continue its support for the community.

Nhan also took the occasion to convey the invitation to visit Vietnam of President Truong Tan Sang to President Rosen Plevneliev.

For his part, President Rosen Plevneliev spoke highly of the visit, affirming that Bulgaria wants to restore and develop the traditional friendship for mutual benefit with Vietnam.

He said he hopes Vietnam-Bulgaria relations will be lifted to a strategic partnership level.

On the same day, Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan met with Bulgarian Minister of Culture Vejdi Rashidov, Minister of Education, Youth and Science Sergei Ignatov.

He also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Social Sciences and Humanity at the Hanoi National University and the Sofia University on establishing the Vietnamese language faculty in Sofia University.

Earlier on Sept. 3, Nhan met Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikolai Mladenov and witnessed the signing of a MoU between Vietnam Diplomatic Academy and Bulgarian Diplomacy Institute. Nhan then met with Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Economic, Energy and Tourism. He left Sofia for Hanoi on Sept. 4, successfully wrapped up his first visit to Bulgaria.

Indonesia Speaker starts Vietnam visit

Speaker of the Indonesia’s House of Representatives Marzuki Alie arrived in Hanoi on Sept. 4, starting his two-day working visit to Vietnam.

Marzuki, who is also president of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, is visiting at the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.

Born in 1955, Marzuki Alie used to be Secretary-General of the Indonesian Democratic Party Central Leadership Board for the 2005-2010 tenure.

Vietnam, Egypt boost bilateral ties

Vietnam and Egypt will coordinate with and support each other at international forums for the two countries’ interests and for maintaining a peaceful environment and cooperation for development, said Vietnamese Ambassador to Egypt Dao Thanh Chung.

Talking with a Vietnam News Agency correspondent on September 2, the diplomat said during his meetings with Egyptian leaders, the Egyptian side expressed their wish to promote the traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with Vietnam, especially in economics, trade and investment. Egyptian officials also said they want to learn from Vietnam’s experience in socio-economic development, Chung said.

According to the ambassador, both sides should enhance the exchange of visits by high ranking delegations and maintain regular contacts between the two countries’ ministries and sectors, with a view to beefing up the multi-faceted cooperation, mutual trust and understanding in the time to come.

Both countries should prepare to conduct the fifth session of the Vietnam-Egypt Joint Committee to review the implementation of signed agreements and put forth goals and measures to boost cooperative relations in the new period.

Chung said both sides should set up a Vietnam-Egypt Business Council in each country to serve as the mechanism to promote bilateral economic, trade and investment ties.

He added that the two countries will coordinate in organising activities to mark the 50 th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic ties in 2013.
