Leaders of Thu Dau Mot City and departments, branches, and units presented gifts to students having difficult circumstances.
Diverse support activities
The work of caring for and supporting poor people, people living in difficult circumstances, workers has always been closely cared for and directed by Party Committee, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Thu Dau Mot City. Since then, many good models and practical ways have been implemented by departments, branches, unions and localities, actively helping many families overcome difficulties and gradually stabilize their lives, escape poverty sustainably. Huynh Van Thanh, Head of the City Party Mass Mobilization Committee, Chairman of the City Fatherland Front Committee, said that by 2023, the entire city had 1,100 poor households, and by the end of the year, 110 households have escaped poverty. In the work of caring for and supporting poor people, in recent times, many effective activities have been done and maintained in the city. With the spirit of "mutual affection", in 2023, many new programs continued to be established and put into operation, promptly helped disadvantaged people to have more conditions to improve and stabilize their lives.
For example, the city's Fatherland Front Committee built a new program named "Hands of gratitude, lifting steps of the poor and disadvantaged". Accordingly, the program called on party members, civil servants, union members, and members of socio-political organizations, along with economically stable people from all walks of life, to join hands to support and help disadvantaged groups, who are poor households, people with serious illnesses, and people with frequent illnesses who need money to cover their living expenses, with priority given to the most difficult situations. This implementation has contributed to promoting internal capital resources, along with the State's resources, to care for and support poor households and people having particularly difficult circumstances in the area; thereby creating motivation for many less fortunate situations to overcome difficulties and illnesses. As a result, up to now, there have been six wards implementing this model, including: Hiep Thanh, Chanh Nghia, Phu Tan, Phu Loi, Phu My, Dinh Hoa.
In these localities, Fatherland Front Committee of wards also carried out many new meaningful activities. An example is Hiep Thanh ward with the "Compassionate lodging house" providing free accommodation for patients and family of patients having difficult circumstances. Hoa Phu Ward with the "Hoa Phu charity" mobilizes philanthropists to give gifts to lonely elderly people and people living in difficult circumstances. Tan An Ward with "Hot pot of kindness" and "Loving connecting arms" provides monthly support to 13 poor people. Phu Tho Ward with "Grains of Gratitude" gave gifts to support households having difficult circumstances. Phu Tan with "Solidarity lodging house" has mobilized lodging house’s owners to exempt or reduce room rent for workers having difficult circumstances. Phu Hoa Ward has a "House of Kindness" that mobilizes philanthropists to give gifts to disadvantaged people. Meanwhile, Phu Loi ward with "Zero-Dong Breakfast" in Quarter 5 and "Zero-Dong Vegetarian Kitchen" in Quarter 6 also operates very effectively...
Do Tet care activities
For many years, the "Tet of Kindness" movement carried out by all levels of Red Cross Society has mobilized and awarded thousands of gifts to disadvantaged people on every Lunar New Year. In order to have more warm gifts given to people facing many difficulties, from mid-November 2023, Thu Dau Mot City Red Cross has soon built a plan to deploy the "Tet of Kindness" movement for Spring 2024 in the city. Doan Thi Thu Hong, Chairwoman of Thu Dau Mot City Red Cross, said that according to the province's assigned targets, during the Lunar New Year 2024, the city Red Cross at all levels strive to mobilize and give at least 4,300 gifts to the poor, people living in difficult circumstances, and vulnerable people, with a total value of 1.9 billion VND.
Accordingly, targeted groups of this program include: poor households, near-poor households, households having difficult circumstances, households having people infected with Agent Orange, people with disabilities, patients having difficult circumstances, households affected by natural disasters, other vulnerable groups (women, children, the elderly, lonely people...); People who do not have the conditions to enjoy spring and celebrate Tet with their families due to lonely and difficult circumstances (elderly people, orphans without support living in centralized care centers; homeless people and workers, patients living in lodging houses...); Red Cross officers, members, and volunteers having difficult circumstances.
To achieve the set goal, the city's Red Cross Association has assigned targets to Red Cross of wards to begin work soon and strongly mobilize resources to carry out gift giving activities to the poor, vulnerable people so that they can enjoy spring and celebrate traditional Tet, contributing to building a united and compassionate community. Specifically, the association will mobilize and organize a "Tet of Kindness" program to support at least 300 people. Ward-level Red Cross Associations will also mobilize and organize a "Tet of Kindness" program to support at least 100 people. The remaining gifts according to allocation targets will be given to people in other programs before the Lunar New Year 2024. Huynh Van Thanh said that in order to take care of the beneficiaries during the upcoming Lunar New Year 2024, the city's Fatherland Front Committee is developing a plan and will advise the City Party Committee to implement related activities.
Like every year, the Fatherland Front Committee of Thu Dau Mot City will coordinate with the government, branches, and member organizations to call on businesses, units, organizations, and individuals to contribute additional resources to organize visiting and gift-giving activities for policy beneficiaries, poor households, households having particularly difficult circumstances, workers facing difficulties due to job loss, layoffs, etc. in the city. Each organization will also have Tet care activities for specific target groups as well as poor members. In addition, the ward authorities will also coordinate with socio-political organizations at the same level to mobilize resources to organize practical and meaningful Tet care activities with the spirit of "Do not let anyone left behind”.
