The observation made while surveying the market in Dau Tieng district at this time shows that the purchasing power of Tet goods has not increased significantly, but the local preparations are already in place, ensuring sufficient supply to meet the needs of the people, avoiding stockpiling and price hikes.

Disversified commodities
During a visit to several convenience stores and grocery stores in the district, alongside essential daily items, there has been an increase in Tet-themed products with packaging and designs. At the Bach hoa xanh store chain, the quantity of products serving Tet such as cakes, candies, beer, soft drinks, and food items has significantly increased compared to regular days. Especially, the eye-catching Tet gift baskets are designed to suit a wide range of customers. The store manager of Bach Hoa Xanh in Dau Tieng town stated: "In addition to preparing a well-diversified source of goods, the store always has attractive discount programs and ensures price stability to meet the shopping needs of consumers before, during, and after Tet."
Walking along some roads in Dau Tieng town, the atmosphere of spring is evident, with Tet decorations being displayed in many stores. It is a vibrant display of red and gold, featuring various types of lucky money envelopes, couplets, stickers, artificial flowers, all adorned with impressive dragon motifs. Right next to Dau Tieng market, there are stalls selling kumquat with their distinctive and enticing aroma. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, the owner of a liquor and Tet gift basket store in Block 2, Thong Nhat Street, compared to previous years, the shopping market this year is quieter. Although she has been selling Tet gift baskets for almost half a month, the majority of customers are regulars who inquire and place orders.
The appearance of flower stalls and artificial Tet decorations has brought a touch of spring to the streets and alleys of the remote areas. Standing out at the entrance of Ben Suc market in Thanh Tuyen commune is the image of various types of artificial flowers with different designs and colors at the stall of Ms. Nguyen Thanh Van, a long-time trader at the market. In a conversation with us, Ms. Van said, "At this time, occasionally there are customers who buy, mainly acquaintances. Hopefully, from now until Tet, we will be able to sell more. During the days leading up to Tet, I will also sell fresh flowers and potted plants for Tet decorations."
Market tightly controlled
Mr. Le Thanh Trung, a customer shopping at Bach Hoa Xanh store, stated: "I came to buy groceries and also took the opportunity to explore the Tet holiday items. The product range is quite diverse and complete, with stable prices. However, due to the difficult economic situation this year, shopping needs careful consideration. My family only buys what is truly necessary."
Despite the current shopping power not showing significant fluctuations, the district has planned to ensure supply and demand balance of goods by stabilizing the market and stockpiling essential items for the year 2024 and the occasion of the Lunar New Year. According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dau Tieng district, the selling prices of goods in the price stabilization program must always be ensured to be 5-10% lower than the selling prices of goods of the same type, quality, and at the same time on the market. In addition to the business households at the local market, town, and grocery store system, retail agents and convenience stores also participate in stabilizing the market by selling products. These include Bach Hoa Xanh (in Dau Tieng town, Thanh Tuyen commune, Long Hoa commune, and Minh Hoa commune), Dau Tieng mini supermarket, and Winmart Dau Tieng store, as well as the business households of Minh Anh.
According to Mr. Tung, the Management Board of markets, supermarkets, industries, and related units ensures business management in accordance with the regulations of the law, bringing about high economic efficiency. Among them, markets and convenience stores in the area are the main units responsible for ensuring reserve goods and stabilizing the market to serve the supply and demand of goods during the Tet holiday. The functional departments of the district will closely monitor compliance with regulations on price stabilization, strengthen inspections of the implementation of laws on pricing, measurement, labeling of goods, price listing, and selling at listed prices; promptly handle cases of speculation, price manipulation, dissemination of false information to drive prices up, and create market instability.
