Dau Tieng district restructures, improves development

Dau Tieng district is a locality with a large rubber growing area, with a total area of 49,230 hectares. In recent years, rubber trees have no longer brought high economic efficiency, so the locality has actively accelerated the conversion of crop and livestock structure towards sustainable development. Besides, the district also focuses on improving the development of industry.

Convert crops and livestock

Dau Tieng district has actively encouraged and provided favorable conditions for economic organizations and farmers to expand models for fruit tree planting and high-tech animal husbandry. The district effectively transforms the agricultural sector by implementing capital solutions, improving farming techniques, and investing in infrastructure to support production.

By the end of September 2024, the area of fruit trees in the district increased by 100 hectares compared to the same period in 2023, bringing the total area of fruit trees in the area to 960 hectares. In the district, specialized fruit growing areas have been formed such as mangosteen in Thanh Tuyen commune, durian and banana in Thanh An commune, orange in An Lap commune, pomelo and tangerine in Minh Hoa commune... This is a production area with products that have been certified OCOP for many consecutive years.

In the livestock sector, Dau Tieng district has transformed from small-scale livestock farming to farm-based livestock applying high technology. Up to now, the whole district has 253 livestock and poultry farms (including 129 livestock farms, 124 poultry farms), a total herd of 223,600 livestock, 3.9 million poultry (an increase of 4% over the same period in 2023).

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Vice Chairman of Dau Tieng District People's Committee, said that in the coming time, the locality will continue to exploit the strengths of high-tech agriculture, promote the application of science and technology in agricultural production, actively support people to access preferential loans; at the same time, replicate effective agricultural economic models, modern technological chains; build a stable output market. In addition, the district develops riverside eco-tourism, tourist areas in Dau Tieng reservoir area, and fruit gardens to exploit local advantages.

Industrial upgrade

As part of restructuring the agricultural sector, Dau Tieng District is establishing industrial zones and clusters to enhance economic development. Additionally, the district is investing in housing for workers, which will gradually lead to the formation of residential and urban areas. This development aims to foster the growth of the trade and service sector.

Besides, Thanh An Industrial Cluster completed infrastructure investment and operated effectively in the past time, An Lap Industrial Cluster, with a planned area of 75 hectares, started construction in April 2024, expected to complete infrastructure in January 2025 to welcome investors for production and business.

According to the plan, Dau Tieng district will soon establish three new industrial parks: Dau Tieng 4, Dau Tieng 1A, and Dau Tieng 5, along with several new industrial clusters. These developments aim to facilitate the relocation of industrial production from the southern areas of the province to the north. Additionally, they are designed to attract a new wave of investment, featuring larger capital scales and more advanced production technologies. This initiative will contribute to the sustainable and prosperous development of Dau Tieng.

The promotion of restructuring in the agricultural sector has marked a significant advancement towards high-tech, environmentally friendly agriculture. This shift is transforming people's lives and serves as a driving force for Dau Tieng to achieve its Agricultural - Farmers - Rural Development Program for the period of 2021-2025, with a vision extending to 2030.
