Tax agencies in localities within the province are actively converting tax identification numbers to personal identification numbers. The purpose of this conversion is to create convenience, speed, safety, transparency, and contribute to preventing and combating fraud and deception in cyberspace.
Synchronizing the citizen identification number with the tax identification number helps people to conveniently carry out administrative procedures. In the photo: Officials from the Tax Department of Tan Uyen city assist taxpayers in standardizing personal tax identification data.
Positive completion of tax codes among the public
In recent days, at the Tax Office in Tan Uyen area (Tan Uyen city), many people have come to complete procedures related to personal income tax, including updating tax registration information. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Mai, in Thai Hoa ward, Tan Uyen city, said that she used to create a Zalo account to sell goods online. When she stopped doing business for a while, her tax code was locked. After that, she installed online and the service provider requested to update the owner's phone number and personal tax code. Because she was not familiar with the procedure of updating the tax code, she went to the tax office to get assistance in implementing the tax code.
Mr. Le Van Cuong of Khanh Binh ward, Tan Uyen city, said that when he was conducting real estate transactions, he encountered difficulties due to the old tax code registered under the ID card number not matching the current citizen identification card. Therefore, he went to the tax office to make changes and update the information according to the citizen identification card. He has been instructed by the tax officer to install and update with complete information. "Now I can perform administrative procedures for land, real estate transactions, business registration etc. anywhere because the information has been standardized on the tax system," Mr. Cuong excitedly said.
The record shows that there are currently many people who directly come to the tax office to update their information as mentioned in the two cases above. In fact, the majority of taxpayers now have the mentality of "waiting until the water reaches their feet before jumping", when it comes to tax-related transactions and the requirement to standardize information about tax identification numbers, taxpayers only come to the tax office to activate, make changes to their information, and log in to their accounts.
The public is carrying out the standardization of personal tax code data
Continual propaganda to taxpayers
The provincial Tax Department's leadership said that the review and standardization of personal tax identification data aims to ensure the complete and accurate updating of information on full name, citizen identification number, identification number for individuals without a citizen identification card, and date of birth of individuals into the data of tax identification numbers within the scope of review to synchronize with the national database on population. This activity ensures that each individual is issued a unique tax identification number for lifelong use.
To ensure the progress of reviewing individual tax codes according to the plan, and to contribute to the implementation of Government Project 06, the provincial Tax Department will continue to strengthen the work of propaganda, guidance, and support for each group of taxpayers to update and change information in accordance with regulations. In addition, the provincial Tax Department has sent a letter requesting the People's Committees of districts and cities to direct relevant agencies, departments, organizations, and tax authorities to review and standardize individual tax codes in coordination with tax authorities.
According to the leadership of the provincial Tax Department, the conversion of personal tax identification numbers to citizen identification numbers does not affect the rights of the people, on the contrary, it will facilitate the determination of tax obligations. When completing the use of citizen identification cards as tax identification numbers to handle administrative procedures with the tax authorities and using identification numbers to handle administrative procedures with state agencies, people only need to declare their identification number information. Standardizing tax identification data with personal identification numbers is a necessary task. Therefore, the provincial tax department expects taxpayers to actively cooperate in providing information for conversion as soon as possible.
The provincial Tax Department reported that the total number of taxpayers in the province that need to be reviewed is 224,030 cases. As of the end of August 2024, the number of successfully reviewed and standardized taxpayers is 138,462 cases, achieving a rate of 62%. The number of taxpayers with unresolved issues that cannot be updated in the application is 85,568 cases, accounting for 38%.
