In a fierce and tense stage of resistance against the US Army and its clique, People’s Liberation of Southern Vietnam Front Committee was established as a form of People’s Unification of Vietnam Front Committee and defined as a significant landmark of Vietnam’s revolutionary victory.

National Delegation Congress of Southern Vietnam, by then, announced establishment of this committee on December 20, 1960 at Rum Duong, Tan Lap, Chau Thanh, Tay Ninh. The committee was secretly led by Vo Chi Cong, Phung Van Cung, and Huynh Tan Phat. By its first meeting on February 16, 1962, Nguyen Huu Tho had been voted as Chairman with his fellow Deputy Chairmen of Phung Van Cung, Vo Chi Cong, Huynh Tan Phat, Ybih Aleo, and Di Duc Son Vong; Nguyen Van Hieu had been voted as Secretary of the committee.
People’s Liberation of Southern Vietnam Front Committee aimed at unifying people to defeat invasion war and overturn the puppet government to liberate the Southern region and the nation. Under 10-point manifesto and righteous way, the committee gathered up society classes, organizations and patriots to resist the US Army and save the nation. Unity kept expanding to 3 fronts of military, politics and foreign affairs.
By October 1962, 31 out of 41 localities in Southern region had their own committees with millions of members. Influence of the committee organizations became higher and more prestige in international arena. Revolutionary movements in the Southern region were boosted up to attract all hearts to revolutionary cause of the Southern region.
In Binh Duong Province (then, Thu Bien Province and later on Thu Dau Mot Province), Huynh Van Cuong was voted as chairman of the provincial front committee on February 27, 1965 along side with district’s and town’s front committees under grassroots authority.
The birth of People’s Liberation of Southern Vietnam Front Committee and victory of simultaneous revolutionary movements became a landmark of Southern region’s revolution.
