VND 150 billion proposed to upgrade Song Than Station

Vietnam Railway (VNR) has just submitted a written proposal to the Ministry of Transport to consider allocating funds to invest in upgrading and renovating railway infrastructure to serve railway operations at Song Than Station area (the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh city railway line).

According to VNR, Song Than station serves as the largest freight hub in the South, and is also one of 6 international intermodal stations serving the import and export of goods by rail between Vietnam and China and vice versa. To meet the needs of inter-line, inter-provincial and inter-modal rail freight transport at Song Than station, and at the same time to serve the need to connect multi-modal transport operations in the near future with logistics and warehouse centers outside of Song Than Industrial Park, VNR proposed that the Ministry of Transport consider continuing to upgrade and renovate the Song Than station area, building 2 more cargo yards with a total area of more than 9,000 square meters.

VNR also proposed to build a maintenance and repair area, a container truck gathering yard, a container washing yard and a refrigerated loading and unloading area, cold storage, 2,500m2 warehouse, functional housing areas and other synchronous items. Total investment for the above items is expected to be VND 150 billion not including site clearance costs.
