Youths and unionists’ awareness and action reach positive changes

After 2 years of launching a project of ‘Improving legal awareness for local youths’, youths and unionists’ awareness and action have reached positive changes, affirmed vice secretary of local Youth Union cum vice head of the steering board of the project Nguyen Pham Duy Trang.

Over the past 2 years of implementing the project, highlighted results of learning about traffic safety and environment law were showed. The project steering board in cooperation with the HCMC Law University’s Legal Consultancy Center held 60 legal promulgations, luring over 12,000 youths and unionists and local people. Besides, more than 700 youths and unionists and local people enjoyed free legal consultancies.

The project steering board also set up 10 voluntary legal promulgation teams. These teams have so far held about 300 legal consultancies across localities and boarding houses. With the purpose of equipping knowledge and skill for the voluntary legal promulgation teams’ members, the project steering board held 6 training classes for over 400 speakers, 500 propagandists in the province.

Moreover, the board composed and issued 80,000 leaflets of social insurance, salary, strike, road traffic law, environment law, family and marriage law…

What issues will the project steering board focus in 2011?

The Year of Youth 2011 includes important events for youths nationwide. The project steering board will focus on launching crucial tasks of developing 10 voluntary legal promulgation teams’ operation, boosting legal promulgation by using information channels of youth unions, upholding mobile legal consultancy for youths, unionists and local residents.

Free legal consultancy program for youths at lawyer offices is an important activity of the project. The activity co-held by the project steering board and the provincial Judicial Department and local Lawyer Delegation aims at reinforcing self-protection ability, replying queries and minimizing wrong-doings among youths.
