Provincial leaders visit, congratulate Catholic dignitaries on Christmas

Early Dec.24, a delegation of leaders from provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Fatherland Front Committee, led by provincial Party Committee Permanent Deputy Secretary, People’s Council Chairman Vu Minh Sang, visited and congratulated Catholic dignitaries and followers on the occasion of the Christmas 2012.

At the Bishop’s Office under Phu Cuong Diocese, Mr.Sang sent Christmas greetings to Catholic dignitaries and followers while briefly informed them about the province’s socio-economic performance in 2012. Despite difficulties, the province’s economy in 2012 still maintained a stable growth with total GDP value increasing by 12.5% compared to 2011; economic structure saw a shift on the right direction with industry, service and agriculture at the respective proportions of 62%, 34.2% and 3.8%; social investment capital grew by 24.5%; FDI attraction reached more than US$2.6bln; State budget collection reached VND24trillion or 89% of the projection; export turnover secured US$12.1bln; import value was estimated at US$9.9bln…Many key projects on industrial, urban, cultural and social development were built and put into use, creating a premise for the province’s development in the next years; the province’s social welfare was also ensured…

Mr.Sang also acknowledged and honored the Catholic community’s contributions to the province’s socio-economic development while hoping that the Catholic community would further bring into play the motto of “good life sound religion” and promote patriotic movements, contributing to the local socio-economic development…

At the visiting places, including Phu Cuong Church, Binh Duong-based Protestant Church and Bung Diocese, Nguyen Thanh Liem, Head of provincial Public Relations Committee; Pham Van Canh, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee and Huynh Van Nhi, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee sent Christmas greetings to dignitaries and religious followers.

Also on the occasion of Christmas 2012, leaders of Phu Giao, Dau Tieng, Ben Cat, Tan Uyen districts; Di An, Thuan An towns and TDM city visited and congratulated Catholic dignitaries and followers. Particularly, leaders of Phu Giao district visited and presented gifts to 20 district-based churches. Leaders of Ben Cat district also visited, wished Catholic dignitaries and followers in the parishes of Hung Hoa, Lai Uyen, Cay Truong, Lai Hung, My Phuoc, Tan Hung, Thoi Hoa and Hoa Loi a happy and merry Christmas.
